I. Overview:

The Department of Pedology and Agrochemistry was established at the same time with the establishment of Department of Agriculture (Ban Canh Nong - former name of Faculty of Agronomy), The College of Nong-Lam-Suc in B’lao - Lam Dong province. At present, the Department of Pedology and Agrochemistry is one of the seven academic Departments of Faculty of Agronomy. The Department offers courses such as basic of soil science, soil fertility and fertilizer, soil and water conservation, GAP and organic farming (Faculty of Agronomy); courses at other Faculties such as soil science and fertilizer (Department of Chemical Engineer, Agricultural Technology of Education Department), soil and soil degradation (Department of Environment Biotechnology), soil resource management (Faculty of Environment and Resources) to support undergraduate programs; soil and water management in crop production, plant nutrition (Faculty of Agronomy) to support undergraduate and graduate programs. Apart from the above functions, the department carries out research on other issues relating to soil environmental quality evaluation, soil erosion; fertilizer use efficiency; safe vegetables production processes; organic media materials, recycling of waste materials and by-products…for agricultural purpose; and Department also collaborates with other organizations in research and transfers of technology results to local regions.
